An ever powerful mark of love and passion, roses have, for the past thousands of years, been used to convey emotions and messages in a language that requires no words. In ancient mythology, roses have been associated with Aphrodite and Venus, the Greek and Roman Goddesses of Love. And so, it comes as no surprise that people, ever since then and even in today’s times, use these beautiful flowers as a way to truly express themselves.
Apart from the main emotion of eternal love that a rose symbolizes, this alluring flower represents confidentiality and acts as a symbol of balance too. But the deep-rooted symbolism of a rose doesn’t stop here, as the beauty of this flower lies in its strong ability to express promises, hope, and new beginnings as well.
Thousands of years of being used as a conveyor of messages, there is no doubt that even the different colours of roses are seeped in traditional symbolism for different occasions, and it is true that these flowers have inspired and enabled humans to develop a unique language of colour.
Red roses, the most common and yet the most beautiful, express an undying love, passion, beauty, courage and respect.
White roses, as pure as they are, express purity, innocence, reverence, humility, secrecy and even youthfulness.
Pink roses, as delicate as they may seem, express appreciation, grace, healing, admiration, gentleness and perfect happiness.
Yellow roses, bright as the day, express joy, delight, friendship, protection, and promise of a new beginning.
Orange roses, as vibrant and uplifting as they are, express desire and excitement.
Lavender roses, ravishing as ever, express enchantment and love at first sight.
Blue roses, as tranquil as they seem, signify something that’s unattainable and impossible.
With so many messages being conveyed by different colours of one eternal flower, it is safe to say that expressing oneself through roses is never going to go out of style.
